The fifty entries that have been accepted for the two three lap Sidecar TT Races at this year’s Isle of Man TT Races fuelled by Monster Energy include five former race winners in the field who have no less than 27 victories between them.

Portsmouth’s Quattro Plant JG Speedfit Kawasaki sidecar team made the 460 mile round trip to Oulton Park in Cheshire for round two of the British Sidecar Championship. Since the first round at Brands Hatch three weeks ago driver Ricky Stevens from Portsmouth and Dover based passenger Ryan Charlwood have had a busy couple of weeks having raced at the first round of the World sidecar Championship at the iconic Le Mans circuit in France, where they had a superb fifth place finish on a circuit they had never raced at before.


Gary Horspole with passenger Jimmy Connell rode to a strong sixth place (fourth in his class) in round two of the Hyundai Construction Equipment British F1 Sidecar championship on Monday.

The Sleaford rider along with his Scottish passenger was consistent throughout free practice and qualifying and began the race from a third row grid position. The pair got away to a good start on the LCR Kawasaki outfit and were fifth on the first lap but were pushed back a place to sixth on lap two and remained in that position to lap nine when the race was red flagged.

Mallory Park produces a scorcher in more ways than one

Bank Holiday weekend 6th/7th May saw the third round of the A.C.U./F.S.R. A British Formula 2 sidecar championship at Mallory Park with E.M.R.A the host club in polar opposite weather conditions to the previous weekend at Cadwell Park. With the forecast to be the hottest Early May Bank Holiday on record it would be very tiring for all competitors in the searing heat and two x twenty lap races scheduled.

Well what a meeting twenty one championship entries and our first very own races. Thanks all for your support and the new teams, two new teams being first meeting novices. It was a meeting that will go down with great memories for the weather and the clean and close racing.

Slovakiaring Welcomes World Sidecars

It seems like only yesterday since the “FIM World Sidecar Championship” teams kicked off their 2018 season in Le-Mans, but that is all in the past. The teams are heading to a new circuit to them. The 5.922km “Slovakia Ring” will welcome the sidecar teams. Opened in 2009, the fast, mainly right hand corner circuit is a short 35km from the capital Bratislava. As like in Le-Mans the sidecars will be supporting the “FIM, Endurance World Championship”.

Glorious weather blessed the paddock for the entire weekend in Cheshire.

Due to clashes with the FIM World Championship, and a British F2 round at Mallory Park, the grid was significantly lower than normal. Notable non-starters were Ben and Tom Birchall and John Holden Lee Cain as they headed for the Slovakiaring.
Brands Hatch winners Peter Founds/Jevan Walmesly opted to defend their F2 title, so were another high-profile crew missing from the line-up.
Those crews who did make the journey for the one and only race, were rewarded with great racing and a chunky share of the available points.

Free practice was a good indicator of how things might pan out with the big bikes versus the 600's. One or two 600 crews were trying out the short chassis version ahead of the Isle of Man TT.



The FSRA Preinjection championship has come alive with a fantastic entry with eighteen teams at Oulton Park and twenty teams entered for Mallory resulting in their own race.

Novice John Shipley jnr with Milo Ward as a last minute stand in passenger winning both round one Oulton park races.

This year’s championship grids are made up of all abilities from novices to old and bald with an all assortments of machine types, long and short chassis of all different manufacturers with lighter 600 engines, bigger heavier 1000cc plus four stroke engines, and 350 to 750 two strokes engines.

Oulton Park suited some but which teams and set up will be more suited for round two the shorter Mallory Park track this weekend?

A dramatic opening round at Brands Hatch two weeks ago saw Scots Steve Kershaw and Stuart Clark leave Kent leading the British Sidecar Championship for the first time in their career.
Their 1000cc Santander Salt Kawasaki was freshly rebuilt after a crash testing in France, and they were still sorting the geometry.
That however, did not stop them following the Birchall Brothers home in race one, and claiming third behind the Founds brothers Peter and Alan in a wet second outing.
At Oulton Park for round two, there will be plenty of crews lining up for revenge, so Kershaw and Clark will have their hands full.

Mixed fortunes for Team ARC and new Championship leaders

(Steve-E here. Can I just say a public thank you to Mark for these reports and the race results, I don't know how he finds the time to cover everything so well)

This past weekend 28th/29th April saw the second round of the A.C.U./F.S.R.A British Formula 2 sidecar championship at Cadwell Park with Bemsee the hosting club.

A few of the registered teams took the opportunity to participate in the Friday afternoon test sessions in what could be considered Lake Cadwell. From around 10am on Friday morning it started to rain and it persisted until late in to Saturday evening.

This meeting welcomed 2014 British F2 Champion Gary Bryan with Phil Hyde as ballast and two French teams, namely the fastest all female sidecar team in TT history Estelle Leblond & Melanie Farnier and Remy Guignard & Frederic Poux.

Taxi rides will be run at the end of the day's racing around the full Mallory Park circuit. For £20, participants will get three laps (out lap, flying lap and in lap) alongside the country's top F2 sidecar drivers, including double F2 Champion Pete Founds.


Last year at the Endurance Legends event we ran Sidecar Taxi rides on the Melbourne Loop and boy, did we have some fun!!
This event is all about the fantastic levels of fun and excitement that can be had whilst racing sidecars, you as the Taxi Riders will get a first-hand taste of what it’s like to be riding on a thoroughbred Grand Prix outfit or a slightly more tame Classic or even a ‘BEARs big wheeler’.
We will have leathers and helmets for you to borrow but if you have your own one piece leathers, gloves, sturdy boots and a helmet with an ACU gold badge, even better.
