Having just about recovered from the rain and wind at Oulton Park a fortnight ago, the third round of the 2019 F.S.R.A. Preinjection Sidecar Championship travels to Donington Park on the weekend of the 11th and 12th May. This looks set to be an interesting weekend of sidecar racing, with the A.C.U. / F.S.R.A. British F2 Championship also being hosted by N.G.R.R.C. Seventeen Pre-Injection sidecars have entered, comprising of eleven F2 and six F1, this being the greatest turn out so far this year.
In the F2 class, Rob Fisher will be back with his regular passenger Rick Long, and they will be aiming to add to their championship lead, with a margin of twelve points, having won all four races so far. A clean sweep of runners-up placings see brothers John and Doug Chandler heading the chase to the multiple T.T. winners. Husband and wife Andy and Joanne Thomas are currently third, all the aforementioned crews competing aboard 600 Yamahas. Barring any mechanical issues, the TZ350 Yamaha of Billy Pearson / Rob Child is capable of running at the front of the F2 pack, particularly if there is any hint of wet weather on the agenda.
After selling and then recently re-buying last year’s outfit to enable them to concentrate on the Pre-Injection Championship, Simon Horton / Paul Bailey are competing in their first round of the year, and will be amongst the favourites for the F1 class. Also out for the first time this year, Joe Heys / Gary Wheeler will be present on Joe's self-built 1200 Kawasaki long wheel base machine. Both of these crews took podium finishes at Donington last season, and are likely to figure again this time around.
A big thank you to Adrian Lane Building Services, PAGID Brake Pads and the Formula Sidecar Racing Association (F.S.R.A.) for their continued support and sponsorship of our championship.
