The annual "Sidecar Bash" at Cadwell Park, hosted by Auto 66 is definitely going ahead, and this year will be held on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th October. All classes of sidecars are catered for (including the final round of this year's "F.S.R.A. Pre-Injection" championship), as well as solo machinery. "Taxi Rides" will be run on both days, further details of which will be made available shortly on this website.
Sidecar classes include: F1 - F2 - F600 (lwb 600 / 675 Triples) - F.S.R.A. Pre-Injection (incorporating Post Classic / F350) - Classic - Vintage - Morgans - BEARS - Scooters. Entry fees for the first class are £280 for a weekend entry, further classes may be entered at £40 per event. Discounts are available for overseas competitors (IoM - 50%; Others - 75%). Unfortunately the club is not in a position to offer any further discounts this year - Auto 66 recognise that all competitors making a ferry crossing have a larger financial outlay than UK-"mainland" based teams, and competitors from Northern Ireland and Eire / The Continent have start permission costs, hence the discount structure offered.
This will be the fifth anniversary of the Sidecar Bash, which has proved hugely popular with competitors and spectators alike. The Auto 66 Race Committee met recently and have addressed the problems which arose last year. This particularly being in relation to communication and making the most effective use of the tracktime. Measures have been put in place to ensure there is no repeat this year; and the event can revert to the huge success that it was previously known for.
Entry forms are available to download; and are also available from Sue Taylor (sidecar passenger to Wes Pettman #167) this coming weekend at East Fortune - Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd September - and at the A.C.U. / F.S.R.A. British F2 season finale at Oulton Park on Friday 5th and Saturday 6th October. Dave Holmes (of D & L Holmes Paddock Services) also has some forms, and can be found at many of the short circuit events across the North and Midlands.
