2018 starts with a record eighteen entries in the first round of seven for the F.S.R.A. / Lane Building Services Pre-Injection Sidecar Championship, which once again sees the season opener at Cheshire's Oulton Park, on Saturday 28th of April.
Can the father on son pair of Jody and Reece Sims retain last year’s victory with their FZR 600? This year there is more competition. This championship could be well known as “Bassetts” (after the liquorice sweets), with “allsorts” of teams entered - different budgets, abilities and experience - with female and male teams from novices in their orange jackets to old hands with forty plus years of experience - with various engines - old large capacity four and two strokes from the seventies, through to more modern carburettor engines, bolted to all manner of chassis - short and long. This formula for variety (and hopefully success) is that of simple championship rules: three wheels and engines must run with carburettors.
All teams have the one common goal - to do their best they can with what they have and enjoy their racing. With Lane Building Services providing championship trophies and prize money and Pagid Racing providing a fifty pounds donation per round, this championship has come alive with their support.
