As the sidecars took to the 4.185 km Bugatti circuit the track was damp in places but a dry line was visible all round the circuit. There were however some scary moments for some teams as the passed under the "Dunlop" bridge, the track was very damp under the bridge causing the sidecars to get well out of shape as they were getting the power down, all teams went out on track with slick tyres.

All teams had no mechanical problems so it was really suspension set up and braking problems they were sorting out.

The fastest time was set by Tim Reeves and Gregory Cluze on their "Remse Racing" LCR, Yamaha. The team were happy with how practice went, but they did have a small misfire problem towards the end, but this did not stop them setting a time of 1:45.995.

Pekka Paivarinta and Kirsi Kainulainen set the second fastest time of 1:46.992 on their "44-Racing" LCR, BMW. The team were doing a lot of suspension adjustments throughout the practice session and seemed to be happy with how things were going.

The "Santander/ L&W Racing" team of Andy Peach and Charlie Richardson had a good session setting a time of 1:47.156 on their LCR, Kawasaki, they did not have any problems and were looking forward to improving their times in the timed practice sessions.

Setting the fourth fastest time was the first of the FIM Sidecar F2 World Trophy teams. Ben and Tom Birchall on their "Birchall Racing" LCR, Honda had a trouble free practice and were really pleased how things went. They set a time of 1:48.237.

The French team of Sebastien Delannoy and Kevin Rousseau set a time of 1:48.801 on their "Team Sand Seb 72" LCR, Suzuki. Driver Delannoy was really happy and was sure they would greatly improve on this time in the timed qualifying sessions.

The sixth fastest time of 1:48.924 was set by John Holden and Stuart Ramsey on their "Sillicon Barnes Racing" LCR, Suzuki. Holden and Ramsey were one of the teams who had a big moment under the "Dunlop" bridge but they were to continue with no more problems and were working on suspension and brake setup.

The second fastest of the FIM Sidecar F2 World Trophy teams was Dave Molyneux and Dan Sayle on their "DMR Racing" DMR, Honda. The team were really happy with the time of 1:53.822, as this was the first time the sidecar had been on track this year. And they had no problems with their machine.

The weather forecast for the qualifying sessions is mixed, with the possibility of some rain throughout the day. But all teams will be hoping for dry sessions to improve their lap times.
