Team BHR Isle of Man Review

Following a busy few days of setting up and preparing the outfit, attending briefings etc, practice got underway in earnest for T.T. 2013 on Saturday 25th May.
The opening session had a "controlled lap" scheduled for newcomers, and as Ben was making his debut on the Mountain Circuit, he and Dave took part in this, before putting in a lap at just over 96.6mph in the sidecar practice session - a good effort for a first attempt from a standing start. There was a slight feeling of disappointment that the lap had not actually been faster, although it was evident that the bike was perhaps slightly over-geared, and the next day the 41 tooth rear sprocket was removed, in favour of the more familiar 42.

2013 ACU/FSRA BRITISH F2 SIDECAR CHAMPIONSHIP, DONINGTON PARK
![]()
Preview of Donington Park Programme
Welcome to round 4 of this year's British F2 Sidecar Championship, our first visit to Donington since 2009 and only the third in the last decade. Donington was on the agenda in each of the first eleven years of the championship, from '85 to '95 and that very first race here saw Bill Hodgkins and John Parkins take the victory.
Andre Witherington, Gary Smith, John Brindley, Mick Boddice and Derek Brindley all scored two wins in that period, while Ian Bell and Nick Crowe took two victories in the 'noughties'. But pride of place goes to the late Dave Wells with three wins, two with Mick Boddice and one with Roy Hanks.

Reeves brothers continue SMT's success as Jenkinson maintains title lead

Fresh from their Isle of Man TT Races campaign, SMT Racing’s successful 2013 season continued at Knockhill at the weekend with Tim and Tristan Reeves winning both of the British F1 Sidecar Championship races to extend their title lead and Adam Jenkinson finishing fourth in the Pirelli National Superstock 1000cc Championship to do similar.
Heavy rain saw Saturday’s Sidecar race postponed due to large amounts of standing water around the 1.27-mile circuit but conditions were far more favourable on Sunday morning and a perfect start saw Tim and Tristan grab the holeshot from Sean Hegarty/Calum Lawson. The Kent duo promptly pulled away from the rest of the field and for much of the race there was only half a second between them. However, Tim was just biding his time and towards the end of the 10-lap race, he edged clear to run out victor by 2.126s.

Reeves/Reeves do the double again as Eastern Airways Sidecars head north of the border!
The Eastern Airways British Sidecar Championship went north of the border for round 4 where they were reunited with the British Superbike paddock at Knockhill for Scotland’s biggest bike sport event of the year. The Steve Hislop memorial round was sure to draw in large crowds and would be a great way to remember the racing legend 10 years after his death.
This weekend saw the championship leaders Reeves/Reeves (SMT Racing Suzuki) return after missing the last round at Donington to concentrate on preparations for the Isle of Man TT. Following their triumph they returned to defend their 15 point lead from Hegarty/Lawson (Q8 Oils Suzuki) who are currently sitting 2nd.

A BRACE OF TOP 10s FOR HORSPOLE AND KNAPTON

Leasingham sidecar driver Gary Horspole with passenger Paul Knapton were rewarded for their long trek to Scotland with a 10th and a sixth place finish from the two races that formed the fourth round of the Eastern Airways British F1 Sidecar championship at Knockhill taking them up to 11th in the overall rider standings on 40 points.
After the disappointment of the previous round when they had to withdraw from both races at Donington Park because of an electrical fault Horspole was keen to get some points under his belt and although the outfit was still not 100% he managed to qualify in eighth place. The Knockhill circuit is very narrow and the sidecars were lined up on the grid two to a row giving Horspole and Knapton a fourth row start.
