FIM MiniGP World Series

The FIM and Dorna Sports are delighted to announce a new platform on the Road to MotoGP™: the FIM MiniGP World Series. Unifying and standardising MiniGP competitions from around the world under the same umbrella, the series aims to create an equal platform for young riders worldwide – and increase their skill and opportunity on the Road to MotoGP™.

SEE THE FULL ARTICLE ON FIM-LIVE HERE

The FIM MiniGP World Series will comprise MiniGP competitions organised by one or more FMNs, or CONUs across the globe that sign up to be part of the new initiative, with each competition in the Series adhering to the same set of sporting and technical regulations in order to standardise competition. MiniGP Cups or competitions wishing to be included as part of the new Series – and thereby gain Road to MotoGP™ status – can be either national in nature or representing a larger geographical area at a regional or continental level.

Races must take place on karting circuits that meet minimum standards set by the FIM or national federation in question, who will also decide on the minimum circuit length. Riders must be between 10 and 14 years old, competing on equal Ohvale GP-0 160 machinery. The official single tyre supplier for all the FIM MiniGP World Series will be Pirelli, with a standard tyre allocation given per event.

In view of the health crisis, and in order to maintain all the races on the 2021 FIM EWC calendar, the 44th edition of the 24 Hours Motos will be held behind closed doors on 17 and 18 April.

As with the 2020 edition, the 2021 24 Hours Motos scheduled for 17 and 18 April on the Bugatti circuit at Le Mans will be held without spectators in attendance.

Race organizer Automobile Club de l’Ouest, the FIM (International Motorcycling Federation) and FIM EWC promoter Eurosport Events have taken this difficult decision in order to ensure that all five races on the 2021 calendar are maintained, and to support the teams competing in the FIM Endurance World Championship.

Pierre Fillon, President of the Automobile Club de l’Ouest
“Regrettably, we shall have to organise the 24 Hours Motos behind closed doors for the second year running. Firstly, my thoughts go out to the fans of the race who will again miss out on the trackside experience. Despite the absence of spectators, the race will go ahead for the sake of the competitors and their sponsors. We sincerely hope that we shall be able to share these great moments in sport together again very soon.”

From the FSRA

The F.S.R.A. would like to welcome WinTec Racing, Nottingham as a series sponsor of the 2021 F.S.R.A. Pre-Injection Sidecar Championship. They are well known around the Pre-Injection paddock, having run their own team and supported several others since the inception of the class.

They join Pagid Brakes, with principal Michael Breitenbach pledging his continued loyal support to the series once again. A reminder that the full provisional Pre-Injection calendar is posted on the F.S.R.A. Website.

A more concise and clear set of regulations for the Pre-Injection class, along with Post-Classic Sidecar eligibility has also been recently uploaded to the F.S.R.A. website – this can be found here

SIDECAR TT REGULATIONS

This was from October 21st Email..

Last month, the Isle of Man Government Department for Enterprise, as promoters of the Isle of Man TT Races, invited competitors and relevant parties to contribute towards a review of the Technical Regulations for the Sidecar class. The Department would like to thank those who took the time to reply.

The proposed changes were intended to allow the class to expand and bring more variation to the start line, especially taking into account the difficulty and cost of obtaining a 600cc, 4-stroke engine. The Race Management Team have considered all responses and have also taken into account the current pandemic and the financial position this will leave some teams.

As a result, no changes will be made to the 2021 Sidecar TT Technical Regulations. However, the regulations will be amended for TT 2022 to allow 4-stroke, parallel-twin cylinder engines up to a maximum of 900cc.

Kind Regards
